Jory Ames, Ph.D., writes and lives in Alaska. She has taught college English throughout the Northwest and has been a successful technical writer and magazine editor for 23 years. She enjoys her family, writing, reading, music, nature hikes, mountains, dogs, and cats but is not so much a fan of cold Alaskan winters. Jory has been volunteering for humane societies since 1977, particularly focusing on ending pet overpopulation. She has published seven books and hundreds of poems, short stories, articles, and essays in newspapers, literary journals, and magazines.
