Eduardo Cervino Alzugaray, aka E. C. Brierfield, was born in Havana, Cuba. This novel is based on real events in the life of the author, the reason he decided to publish it under his real family name. The characters' names, except his own, have been changed to protect the identity of those persons still residing on the island. Lamentably, a few of those persons have passed away.
