Once her condition improves, strange things start to happen; she's constantly craving raw meat, and all of a sudden it seems that boys are more than interested in her changing attitude and style. She begins smelling food on everyone, and becomes tempted to just... nibble a little on her acquaintances. What's going on? The doctor says anemia, but as time passes and the symptoms worsen, Mavis becomes suspicious that something sinister is happening to her. Mavis Harvey is beside herself. For the first time in her life, she has been asked out on a date by a boy, but for some strange reason, love is the last thing on her mind. She simply cannot quash the urge to eat him. Overwhelmed with an insatiable appetite, ever-paling skin, and a little cooler full of raw liver, Mavis tries her best to live a normal life. But soon, she discovers that whatever is happening to her is anything but normal.
