The main reason why we come and appear before the Lord is to humble ourselves before him because of his Sovereignty, and to express our grateful thanks. According to 1 Chronicles 16: 8-30 we are to; " Give thanks to the Lord Call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples Sing to him, sing psalms to him; talk of all his wondrous works For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised; he is also to be feared above all gods." Give to the Lord, glory and strength, give to the Lord the glory due to his name. In Psalms 95 and 96 we are told respectively; "Come, Let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song, for the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods. In his hand are the depth of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him, the sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.' "Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care." "Ascribe to the Lord, O families of nations, ascribe to the Lord the glory due to his name; bring an offering and come into his courts, worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness; and tremble before him."
