Work plays a central role in adult life, crucially affecting self concept and wellness. The current emphasis on employment preparation for persons with mental retardation requires that more attention be focused on job retention. There are many factors which contribute to gain and maintain the employment successfully and certain factors are responsible for the job loss among persons with mental retardation. Appropriate work behavior and work performance are two such factors which lead toward long term employment. The current study throws a light into the relationship between the work behavior and work performance in work place. The aim of the study was to examine the work behavior and work performance of adults with mental retardation. In this study 44 persons with mental retardation were selected.The Work Behavior Rating Scale was administered to assess the work behavior and work performance.The result of the study reveals that there is a high positive correlation between the work behavior and work performance of adults with mental retardation, and level of retardation plays a significant role in their work behavior and work performance.
