Doc. Bc. Ing. Linda Makovická Osvaldová, PhD. studied at the Faculty of Wood at the Technical University in Zvolen, the study program "Fire Protection" in the engineering study in 1998-2003 and the study program "Wood Processing Technology" 2003-2007 in doctoral degree. At the same time, in 2003-2006, she obtained a Bachelor of Law degree from the Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica.
At present, she is an assistant professor at the Department of Fire Engineering, Faculty of Security Engineering at the Žilina University in Žilina. She deals with safety issues testing of materials used in technological processes, building constructions, as well as natural materials in forest fires and their impact on the safety of rescue components during firefighting. She is the author of 4 textbooks, 2 monographs, and she is also author and co-author of papers published on international conferences and in scientific journals.
She is a member of several editorial boards of foreign and domestic journals: Safe Work, Journal of Engineering and Architecture, Acta Universitas Matthiae Belii series Environmental Management, European Journal of Environmental and Safety Sciences.
This book presents the results of an experiment assessing the impact of spruce wood joints on the creation and development of fire when these joints are applied within a façade. The book includes an extensive analysis of wooden cladding, which is a flammable material in which the elements are connected lengthwise using various types of joint. The parameters of the experiment, as well as the setting, material criteria and evaluation criteria are described in detail. The results confirm that the joint type used has an impact on the selected evaluation criteria and thus also on the potential spread of fire.
