Life is full of contrasts and so is this book. It starts off with the time-travelling pack having to leave their home and their old identities behind and find new ones. All this is being told by Wolf, the Irish wolfhound, whose priorities and view of things - though intellectual to some extent - are fundamentally canine. Consequently, the report of Karen, Michael, Useless and Wolf settling down in the Isle of Skye is told lightheartedly and full of canine surprises. But before long the human members of the time-travelling pack have to face up to the fact that some of their activities in the first book of the series have triggered off disastrous consequences and will eventually result in the end of mankind on the British Isles - unless they try to intervene.
