The current theological educational training systemof the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Papua NewGuinea has adopted a wealth of Westerneducational philosophies on knowing, learning andteaching but comparatively few on Papua New Guineanindigenous ways of knowing, learning and teaching. This book presents the Papua New Guinean indigenousways of knowing and learning which are deeply rootedwithin dynamically living communities. It is anattempt to use and develop a Melanesian way ofknowing built upon the cultural values of community, relationship and sharing as a relationally-sharedprocess of engaging the place, aninteraction within the social and cultural context.Operation takes place at a local/indigenousconceptual level and seeks to develop a communitypraxis that the people of Papua New Guinea can usefor both theological educators and students. It isbased upon and centred in a national languagesetting, hence the name wokabaut-karikulum - aconcept that has a shared praxis that uses Papua NewGuinean Tok Pisin. This is seen as an importantalternative approach for theological educationaltraining in the seminaries/colleges in Papua New Guinea.
