How to Find Joy in an Increasingly Joyless World Today-when I look at the people of the United States, taken as a whole, who seem to be more interested in self-fulfillment and are increasingly more self-reliant rather than relying on God for daily needs-I knew I needed to write this book. Time is short and we are not guaranteed tomorrow. The following is a short list of observations that provoked me in my endeavor to complete this book. Pastors were once revered and honored as leaders in the community and were called on for prayer during public meetings. Politicians and public figures would seek them out for guidance and clarification, but today pastors are looked at as outdated and irrelevant. Contributing to the declining view of pastors is the fact that many of them are teaching a watered-down message and taking the reality of Hell and the miracle of Christ's sacrifice on the cross out of their messages in order to not offend their congregations. The Gospel message from a vast majority of pulpits in America has increasingly become void of its salt and light, which has preserved America for so many years. Since our founding as a nation, America has flourished and prospered because she was established on the Bible and biblical principles. It is fair to say that not all of the founders were Christian, but all held a high reverence for the Bible and biblical principles, which they infused into the very fabric of this nation. This book examines where we Americans came from, who we are now, and where we may be headed. God holds the keys; He can open a flood of blessings or a torrent of destruction on America. It is up to the Christians of this nation to exemplify the love of Jesus Christ to a people lost in spiritual warfare and eternal darkness.
