This is a story of egos, so great that it boggles the mind. A simple acknowledgement and an apology would have been sufficient but neither could bring themselves to it. True, there would have been some quiet humiliation in the Chief Engineer's office but nothing like what I faced at their hands. They, Donald Hadden, Chief Engineer aboard the USNS John Lenthall and Caroline Hickey, 3rd Assistant Engineer aboard same. In order for my story to be realized it is necessary for me to refer to my journal, something I have been keeping for the last 15 years. I try to write daily about the previous day's events, anything that may be of interest or what other crew members were speaking of. Suffice it to say that I was not nor did I ever intend to document anybody however, I am certainly glad for my journal. With it, I will recount days and dates, events and behaviors on both the parts of Hadden and Hickey that have led me to draw my conclusions. For me, distasteful but necessary. I have also included the interview transcript, word-for-word with all its inconsistencies. This is not an indictment of Military Sealift Command, MSC. Indeed, I wonder who, off the ship, actually knows what happened? Did my complaints land on someone's desk and become lost? If so, I say "Shame on you." As of this writing I have yet to tell my story to anyone nor will I now; It's all here.
