Trees are a great bank of data, named sometimes as the "silent witnesses" of the past. Due to annual formation of rings, which is normally influenced directly by of climate parameters (generally changes in temperature and moisture or precipitation) and other environmental factors. Trees are a great bank of data, named sometimes asthe "silent witnesses" of the past. Analyzing the cross-correlations between obtainedtree ring width indexes and climate data, significantcorrelations (p<0.05) were observed in some lags. These results confirm the hypothesis of usingdendrochronological data as a climate signal forfurther analysis, such as reconstruction of climatein the past or prediction in the future for the samelocality.
