Ever since I was born again in 1971, I have heard about this fellow named Job and of his experiences. It seems as if the people who would bring up his name wanted to talk more about him than they did about Jesus That seemed strange to me because even as a new Christian, I thought that our emphasis should have been on what Jesus has done for us, not on a man who lived in ancient times who lost everything he had. As I grew in knowledge and understanding and studied the truth of the redemption that we now have in Christ, I realized people were utilizing what happened to Job to justify their doubts, their lack of faith and their unfortunate experiences in life as a Christian. If this sounds critical it is not meant to be. I am just saying that this was the conclusion I came to. There had to be a reason for them to bring up the subject of Job every time something tragic or unfortunate happened to them or in the life of someone else. Instead of being critical of people I think we should try to help them to work through their problems. It is for this reason that I preach and teach the gospel and try to produce books that will help certain critical subjects come into focus.
