Proper spelling and punctuation are important, but they can come later, after the writing has really begun. The workbook takes the student through the process of improving ten sentences, in four different ways. Only after the student has written a sentence four different ways are they even asked to turn it into a paragraph. And only after they have done all ten sentences and paragraphs are they asked to go beyond those and try their hand at constructing a story. And at that point they are reminded to pay attention to proper spelling and grammar.
