«Alan Wieder's book opens up new perspectives in research methodology by documenting the life histories of apartheid-era teachers in the Western Cape. The Author: Alan Wieder is an oral historian who teaches at the University of South Carolina. He has done oral history work on school desegregation in New Orleans and is the author of Race and Education: Narrative Essays, Oral Histories, and Documentary Photography (Peter Lang, 1996). This book is part of his ongoing oral history project with South African teachers.
