In this book, we present a study using Raman and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, theoretical quantum chemistry calculations using density functional theory (DFT), and the antimicrobial activity of the diterpene Sonderianina, which was isolated from the stem of Croton blanchetianus. The FT-IR and Raman spectra of the polycrystalline sample crystal of Sonderianina were recorded at room temperature in the regions from 400 cm ¹ to 4000 cm ¹ and from 40 cm ¹ to 4000 cm ¹, respectively. Additionally, DFT calculations were performed to obtain information on the structural and vibrational properties of this organic compound. The antimicrobial activity test was performed by a microdilution assay to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of Sonderianina against the bacteria Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and the fungi Candida albicans, C. krusei, and C. tropicalis; a modulation assay was also performed.
