The book Ut pictura poesis: Écfrasis en la Obra Rubendariana, is precisely the functioning of the ecphrastic resource, understood as the visual description of an object, in the work of Rubén Darío. The work of the Nicaraguan poet has been analyzed from many perspectives, among them, the artistic sense with which Darío represented images of sublime beauty in writing. For this reason, with this research we wanted to delve deeper into the figure of ekphrasis, which Darío understood as "artistic transposition", a way of bringing the legible to the visible, so that the reader can not only experience his poetry for its linguistic, semantic and stylistic beauty, but also semiotic and visual. To this end, we have first made a brief review of the Horatian precept Ut pictura poesis (as is poetry, so is painting), its development over the centuries and its close relationship with ekphrasis, as well as its influence on Literary Modernism, in order to establish a clear precedent and support the different ways in which Ut pictura poesis and ekphrasis are manifested in a selection of Rubendar's work.
