Raqefet cave is found on the south-eastern side of Mount Carmel, in a valley providing a major access route between the coast and the Plain of Jezreel. This study of the lithic assemblage excavated between 1970 and 1972 uses methodology developed by French archaeologists to reconstruct operational sequences (chaine operatoire) of past stone knapping activities, and thus to examine how tool production developed in this area.
