The registered cases of COVID-19 in short time intervals has exhibited an exponential increase in several countries. This pattern of growth has presented a severe alert of the spread of the virus SARS-CoV2, now in pandemic scale. Here, the pattern of spread is analyzed in short intervals of time by means of new universal functions capable of dealing with data extrapolation departing from the short time intervals. As such, these functions will allow to establish the status of disease spread and the status of control. Universality classes of the spread are defined according to the numbers of registered cases and deaths. The level of the pandemics with respect to the number of cases and the number of deaths are then associated the parameters of universal functions and a changing in the scenario of pandemics with respect to two distinct time intervals is treated as a pandemics phase transition, similar to the classification of phase transitions in physics.
