Most books on marriage view and present marriage as a needs-satisfying relationship. This places the meeting of my spouse's needs as the central purpose of marriage. In "Understanding Marriage - the true story," marriage is introduced as a Fusion Relationship that involves and revolves around a merging of personalities, natures, ideas, goals and destinies over time. This ongoing fusion process forms the core engine of a marriage within which true needs are discovered and met. I believe that this fusion understanding and dynamic of marriage is what the scriptures capture and present. But this dimension of marriage has not been highlighted over the years. The book is primarily targeted to individuals, couples and groups desiring a clearer understanding of marriage either because they are contemplating marriage, are married or have just come out of a "failed" marriage. This book will also be of value to marriage counsellors, pastors, parents and Christian education teachers. This non-fiction work is divided into two (2) Parts. Part 1 discusses an understanding of marriage from different perspectives in ten (10) articles. Part 2 takes the reader through a personal study of Song of Songs, after providing an outline and introductory comments on the scriptural passage under review. First, I was inspired to write this book by my own desire to come into a deeper understanding of marriage when I got married. Secondly, I was moved by the positive responses I received when sharing my discoveries with others - young adults and more mature individuals; single and married alike. I would like the book to be perceived as a useful resource for gaining brand new insight into marriage. A resource you can return to in times of marital discord, difficulties and disarray.
