It is well known that undershoot phenomena areinevitable for plants having real unstable zeros.This book, firstly investigate the undershootphenomena caused by unstable zeros of the plant to becontrolled theoretically. Then, propose methods ofreducing the undershoot amount for a plant withunstable zeros by digital control. The ideas arebased on the Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) designis to use a modified performance index with anexponential time decay rate using a weighting factorand confirm from simulation results that the weightedoptimal LQR can reduce undershoot in comparison withthe standard LQR case.The next method to reducingthe undershoot amount is by using digital controldesign. The idea here is a combination of thediscrete version of the weighted optimal LQR and adiscrete-time controller design with PiecewiseConstant Hold (PCH) instead of Zero Order Hold (ZOH).By using PCH can change the inter-sample controlinput so as to reduce the undershoot amount. Theeffectiveness of all method have evaluated bydynamical system.
