Renewable energies like solar and wind are among a few of the central topics of our time. However, the random and intermittent nature of renewable energy affects the final quality of power output. Energy storage is the key technology to solve this problem. Among various existing energy-storage techniques, the flow batteries offer the promise for large scale energy storage due to its unique features: tolerance to deep discharge without any risk of damage, long cycle life, and independence of energy and power ratings. This book, involved in flow batteries is organized as follows: After an introduction in Chapter1, Chapter 2 reports the determinations of mass transport properties of active ions through the porous electrode of the flow batteries. Chapter 3 represents the effect of cell architecture on cell performance. Chapter 4 shows the modeling work about the effect of flow field in flow battery on cell voltage and system efficiency, followed by modeling the effect of electrolyte viscosity variation with state of charge(SOC) in Chapter 5. Finally, Chapter 6 shows the electrochemical and transport properties of redox couples in ionic liquids(ILs) analogue.
