Prejudice against transgender people and transvestites is a recurring phenomenon in our contemporary society, in a wide variety of social spaces. Transphobic discourse is used to belittle these people, and this discourse is also present in the digital space, based on conservative religious ideologies. The objective of this work is to analyze some of the transphobic discourse directed at a public case on social media, motivated by fundamentalist religious beliefs. It is possible to identify different categories of religious transphobia present in this case. With the aim of contributing to the discussions on these topics presented here, this book reveals the presence of new mechanisms of transphobia made possible through social media. It is an indispensable work for researchers of religion and gender identity, as well as scholars from various fields in the humanities and social sciences.
