Christian Freudlsperger is a postdoctoral researcher at the Hertie School of Governance and the deputy director of its Jacques Delors Centre for European Affairs. In his research, he is particularly interested in comparative federalism's potential contribution to a better understanding of the European Union. His doctoral dissertation, parts of which were published in the Journal of European Public Policy, investigated the workings of multilevel systems in
international trade liberalisation. Currently, he is pursuing a project exploring differentiated integration in the EU and asymmetrical federalism in the United States, Canada, and Switzerland.
