You can almost visualize heaven's darling, leaving His glorious home and becoming flesh. You envision his mother holding her newborn Son; watching Him grow; raising Him; knowing that He is destined for greatness for He is the Son of God. You cannot comprehend love that is this great or this devoted from such a loving Father, but in your heart you can feel it more real than anything you have ever experienced, or, for that matter, ever thought possible. The truth is that you are not in the least interested in even knowing what an abomination is, for you have no desire to become one or to commit one. Why would you? You have discovered treasure in the One Who loves you enough to have died for you after all, and you only want to live for Him. You are wise enough to know, however, that you must not only discover the things that please Him, but acquaint yourself, through His love letter, with those that He is appalled by. Abominations; what are they anyway? The short answer is this. An abomination is that which is abhorred; disgusting; especially idolatrous; detested. Again, the Bible doesn't leave loose ends, for God is not shy or timid. He has clearly stated His desire, wanting us to understand, as, after all, we were created for His pleasure. He has also made clear the consequences of disobedience. Amongst other things, He had this to say to the Pharisees, who thought of themselves as higher than others in the Jewish religious community. Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God. Luke 16: 15 It didn't matter, you see, how much they were able to fool others or how others may have been impressed with them. If others changed, or adhered even to the word of these men, rather than God's; that was idolatry. God will not be ruled out by popular vote; He is here to stay, and His Word shall remain forever.
