O autorze

Tadeusz Borowski, geboren 1922 in Schitomir (Ukraine), studierte Polonistik an der Untergrund-Universität in Warschau. 1943 wurde er verhaftet und nach Auschwitz deportiert, danach in andere Lager, zuletzt nach Dachau. Nach der Befreiung der Konzentrationslager hielt er sich in München auf, wo 1945 ein Gedichtband erschien. 1946 arbeitete er als Redakteur in Warschau, 1949/50 als Korrespondent in Berlin. 1951 nahm sich Tadeusz Borowski in Warschau das Leben. Der Literaturwissenschaftler Jan Kott wurde 1914 in Polen geboren; 1967 emigrierte er aus Polen, seit 1969 lebt und unterrichtet er in den USA.
