The media convey representations about the stay abroad - more precisely, about the types of stay and the countries of destination; but which ones? Does this have an effect on the desire to leave and the choice of destination? Do these representations correspond to the reality observed on the spot, when one undertakes such a stay? In the case of a gap, what is its nature? Does it cause a change in the traveler's attitude towards the media? These are the main questions that motivated the research carried out in the framework of this work. We have found answers to these questions by collecting, on the one hand, theoretical sources and, on the other hand, data through interviews with returned travelers.
