However, this is perhaps not true in the eyes of the learner-based approach. This renewed English teaching approach believes that learners' engagement in the whole process of English language teaching and learning is essential. In this approach the complete learning experience is focused on the learner. Learners need to be exposed to real life scenarios that are relevant to the development of problem solving skills. One of the English language teaching resources which have the power to empower learners is poetry.
