Hiram finds himself being asked to keep secrets by a powerful woman of the military arm of The Church, agrees to be protected by a young woman with extraordinary skills, and most strange of all, agrees to be married to a woman he hardly knows at all. This, the first book in The World of Hamth series introduces the character of Hiram Whales, and sets up the beginnings of a group of adventurers that will come together to face the greatest threat Hamth has ever known.
