The profusion of translations, editions and reprints of the Quran in the last fifty years raises a number of questions about their credibility in dealing with the meanings of the Quranic text. This book addresses opposing opinions regarding translation of the Quran as a debated issue and considers whether translations are a true reflection of the divine message. It also sheds light upon which translation method should be given priority when translating religious texts, and assesses the flaws of a sample of collocational and phraseological units in the Quran into English in terms of structure, content, style and culture. Its findings are then supported by interviews carried out with translation experts and bilingual Imams.
