The birds at the rear of each wing also tire and are observed moving forward to the middle of the wings to rest. 5. Birds to the rear are heard to honk continuous encouragement to the birds ahead of them. 6. If a bird falls from formation, two other birds go with it and stay with it until it either recovers or can't go on. They then join a formation until they can find and re-join their own formation. 7.
