When Nicholas was sent to the Bel Isle garrison to become a cadet and then, at his father's wishes, train there to become an architect he loved the life. Eventually his father wrote to him and said he had to go home. The day came but meeting with a group of miners he decided to join them and go further west to see a bit more of the country before he went back home again. Silver City was in fact a rather small town. The place was very organised and all they had to do was find an area of the mountains where they wanted to make their claim. When he was made deputy Sheriff he thought to write to his father as it was a very acceptable position in Zanabaria. His companions found a good site for which he contributed a share so things were going very well for him.
