Every few millennia, an alignment takes place between our world and its alternate universe such that passage between the two is possible. As the time of the alignment nears, Miryna, an angel from Cheron, the space between the two worlds is dispatched to seek assistance on earth. A shape-changing demon plans to come across and destroy our world, threatening hers in the process. She finds a gifted psychic named Abel and gives him the task of finding the savior who can prevent calamity. Abel discovers that a teenager named Joshua has the unique abilities he seeks. He and a sorcerer convince Josh to join their unique team and they travel to a remote mountain top site. There they await the arrival of the demon. The channel between the worlds opens and as they are getting the shape-changer under their control, a previously unknown twin sister of Joshua's father arrives and yanks the startled youth into the void just before it closes. Now Abel and the sorcerer must find another way to reach the alternate universe to rescue Joshua and return him to his own world. Using the shape-changer who is still under their control they make it to the alternate universe and set out to find Joshua and rescue him from the evil relative. The other world is alien, with the citizens contained inside fortified cities and the spaces between hostile and populated with outcasts and criminals. They find a regional scout who was on the trail of the shape-changer before the alignment and he helps them in their quest. After a series of battles and run-ins with hordes of outcasts and nomads they locate and rescue Joshua. But they still have to make their way back to the place containing transporters so they can return home. Unfortunately, the upheaval begun by the shape-changer in his efforts to take advantage of the approaching alignment has set off a chain of events that is tearing the world apart. They now have to battle through bizarre weather abnormalities to reach their destination. And when they eventually get there, it has been destroyed. They work their way through destroyed buildings and finally get a transporter functional so they can take turns going home. In the process, Ootan is released and just as the last of the team is about to transport, returns to claim the transporter for himself. Josh is forced to battle the monster and has to destroy the transporter to prevent Ootan making it to our world after all, thus stranding himself. Now he has to see if Miryna will disobey her directives and save him.
