O autorze

Maaz, BernhardBernhard Maaz studierte Kunstgeschichte und Archäologie. Ab 1986 war er wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter und zuletzt Stellvertretender Direktor für die Berliner Nationalgalerie. Als Autor und Herausgeber verantwortete er zahlreiche Publikationen und Editionen zur Kunst- und Sammlungsgeschichte vom 15. Jahrhundert bis heute sowie internationale Ausstellungen zu den Themen Skulptur, Malerei und Zeichnung vornehmlich des 19. Jahrhunderts. Ab 2010 leitete er als Direktor das Kupferstich-Kabinett und die Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister der Staatlichen Kunstsammlungen Dresden. Seit April 2015 ist er Generaldirektor der Bayerischen Staatsgemäldesammlungen, die auch Sitz des Max Beckmann Archivs sind.
