Peggy Samantha, the only daughter of doting parents John and Frieda Johanssen, had been asking for a puppy. And as far as she was concerned, her prayers had been answered. Not coincidentally, George Lowe, a poor neighbor down at the bottom of the hill, discovered a pig missing that morning. He desperately needs the income. He wants his pig back, even if he has to take it back forcibly from Peggy Sam's father, his now ex-best friend. Sam's beloved pet pig is off to the auction house. And everybody knows what happens after that. The local characters whose farms neighbor the Johanssens concoct their separate and tangled missions to make matters right.
