Dana L. Cloud is Professor of Communication and Rhetorical Studies at Syracuse University, where she also serves as Director of Graduate Studies. She conducts research and publishes in the areas of critical cultural studies, critique of race, gender, and class in popular media, political communication, publics and counterpublics, social movements, and rhetorical and critical theory. In addition to numerous book chapters and scholarly articles, she is
the author of three books, Control and Consolation in American Popular and Political Culture: Rhetorics of Therapy (Sage, 1998), We ARE the Union: Dissent and Democratic Unionism at Boeing (Illinois, 2011), and Reality Bites: Rhetoric and the Circulation of Truth Claims in US Political Culture (Ohio State, 2018). A
longtime activist, she is a member of the International Socialist Organization.
