We pastors have a job different from everyone else on earth. Our job is two-fold, we are to do what God wants, and to do it exactly the way He wants, and we are to work with imperfect people who don't want to do what God wants (at least, much of the time). This dichotomy tends to pull at the man or woman called to pastor. We often demand from our congregational members to live as they ought, while we also struggle with the same life choices. Many times, and probably most of the time, we are doing our best, hoping we are getting it together, and realizing that we get it wrong too often. Yet, we don't quit or give up, we march on. Pastoring a church or ministry is sometimes (if not too often) a thankless job. Often the very members we invest so much of our life into, turn around and become those who hurt us the most. Sometimes people mistreat our families, because they cannot control our decisions. And, too often, they punish us by withholding tithes and offering. On the other hand, pastoring people is a reward in itself. We affect the life decisions of many and help even more come to know a real, fruitful, and fulfilling relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. This manual covers many situations and circumstances which will affect the pastor and his or her operations of the church organization, with a special emphasis on the relationship between the pastor and our Lord.
