Although The Moral Argument covers many thinkers ancient and modern, the highlight of the book is its rich and careful treatment of a host of nearly-forgotten British thinkers, including Arthur Balfour, William Sorley, Hastings Rashdall, and Clement Webb. Baggett and Walls have provided a fascinating and revealing antidote to the ahistorical character of much contemporary analytic philosophy, and they deserve thanks for making these treasures more accessible.
