Neal Stephenson, geb. 1959 in Fort Meade, Maryland erhielt bei der Ars Electronica 2000 für sein bisheriges Gesamtwerk die Goldene Nica. Seit seinem frühen Roman 'Snow Crash' gilt er als eines der größten Genies der amerikanischen Gegenwartsliteratur. Greg Bear wurde 1951 in San Diego geboren und studierte dort englische Literatur. Seit 1975 als freier Schriftsteller tätig, gilt er heute als einer der ideenreichsten wissenschaftlich orientierten Autoren der Gegenwart. Er wurde für seine Romane mehrfach mit dem Hugo- und dem Nebula-Award ausgezeichnet.
