The book opens with ten year old Kayla and her puppy, Scooter, wandering into a meadow where they encounter Mr. Tree. He's an ancient oak who has lost his luster and is saddened by loneliness. Mr. Tree's friends have left the meadow and he longs for their return. Kayla is the perfect visitor for Mr. Tree. She feels his grief and asks if she can help. The old oak taps into the child's innocence and her profound sense of love. The "Magic Meadow" comes to life and Mr. Tree becomes his healthy old self. At this point, Mr. Tree tells Kayla the first of three stories involving his friends. Those stories are: "The Dragon & the Unicorn" - "The Swallow & the Raven" - "The Princess & the Poet." "The Magic Meadow" is a reading experience that will be enjoyed by young and old alike. It could be a library project with teacher/student readings.
