Author's note This book, as with many historical accounts, has elements which are fictional, i.e. conversations and the like. Hence, it is an historical novel. Beyond historical facts, any similarity to names or actual characters is purely coincidental. However, since I have lived much of what I write about, you might be surprised at what is true. My goal is to capture the mood and background of a certain era in time and I trust I have accomplished that in this novel placed at the end of World War I. It was an exciting time.
