This text addresses the evolving corporate restructuring race between industrial complexes. The authors consider current debates on post-Fordism, globalization and lean production, identifying a number of rival internationalization strategies that have been adopted by different companies. Moreover, they present historical data on the world's 100 largest core companies. They demonstrate that none of the largest core firms are truly global, and that virtually all of them have benefited decisively from governmental trade or industrial policies. This is an interdisciplinary project which links three isolated debates on industrial restructuring, globalization and international trade policies.
