Carmen E. Lamas is Assistant Professor of English and American Studies at the University of Virginia. Her research examines nineteenth-century Latino history and literature from a hemispheric perspective. She is a co-founder of the Latino Studies Association, an academic organization that brings together scholars, students, and activists in the study of Latino concerns.
