The book compares the concept of colonialism in South Africa during two historical periods discribed in the novels "Heart of Darkness" by J. Conrad and "Heart of Redness" by Z. Mda and how history can be repeated itself. The concept of Colonialism hides a lot of issues underneath and one of these issues is the idea Racism. The both selected novels are full of binaries or opposite images like: Savagery and Civilization; Up and Down; Rich and Poor; Black and White and they represent a good medium for both cultural and political events which showed the real feral face of colonialism and revealed its atrocities. In both novels, Colonization was utilized by the Europeans to bring civilization to the dark sides of the world. While the truth was the complete opposite of that, Colonialism was the perfect cover to gain more wealth on the expense of the Africans, whether this wealth was achieved by brutal force and treating the Africans just like animals as in the novel "Heart of Darkness" or by changing their way of thinking and the mental state as in the novel "Heart of Redness" in order to keep them spinning around themselves without moving forward to improve their future.
