Pestilence grows suspicious of the new president and finds he has a dark secret, he is the Devil made flesh. The new president uses all powers at his disposal, both human and demon to find Miriam and thwart Pestilence's interference while at the same time trying to recruit the three Fates to his side. Miriam and her friends race from place to place, trying to stay alive and one step ahead of the Devil and his minions. People are dying by the thousands all around them from Pestilence's virus, which is readying the world for the second Horseman, War, who is prepared to begin his portion of bringing about the End of the World. The forces of evil realize that they have an enemy other than Heaven, they have Miriam, and she must be eliminated.
