I have often give people this simple advice: -You need to read the Bible.- Although this advice is well-intentioned, it may not be the most effective. Why? Because the Bible is not just one book, but a library of books. This advice is ineffective as telling someone to read the entire library. Telling someone to read the entire Bible without giving them a system may make them feel overwhelmed and may actually prevent them from reading God's Word. The Church already has a system in place called the Lectionary, which is a three year cycle. Ideally, if we go to Church every weekend, and also every day, we would cover the bulk of the Bible in the three year cycle. However, it is not uncommon to forget the readings that were proclaimed last weekend or last month. So, it's good to have a general knowledge or a personal system that would help us to navigate through the Bible or a particular book of the Bible. In this book, I will go through the Gospel of Matthew, and offer a system using motifs and themes that Matthew weaves throughout this Gospel account. Hopefully, it will help make this Gospel account more user-friendly, and foster a greater love of reading God's word.
