This book outlines the destruction of a once great Sydney Club through mismanagement and incompetence on a grand scale while pursuing a hidden personal agenda. Over the centuries writers have used books, booklets and pamphlets to draw attention to wrongdoings. I am following at my own lesser level of expertise in those illustrious footsteps, to also focus attention on mismanagement and abuse of power. Like others, I too want to lift the veil of secrecy and deceit in order to effect change for the better. In my father's time, contracts were a handshake, his word was his bond. Honour and integrity were more than words to him, it was how to live one's life. I have tried to emulate him but have found it doesn't work unless the people you deal with have the same standards and ethics as oneself. As well, I have found when people don't take your efforts too seriously, writing a book is a good way to get your views across. If the book can also be amusing to read, this doesn't go against expressing one's point of view, it might just strengthen it - hence the satirical nature of this work.
