Darrell Debo, author of this book, is a native Texan and has been involved in many venues during a lifetime of more than four-score years. He earned two degrees at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, a Bachelor of Music (BM) in piano performance and a Bachelor of Divinity (BD) in church history. After more than 60 years in the ministry, he is retired and resides at his home in Burnet, Texas. A lifetime interest in history has motivated much of the labor on this volume. The product of this family history book is the result of more than 60 years research involving journeys to eastern and southern states, libraries, courthouses, cemeteries, and interviews with many knowledgeable and interesting individuals who became dear and treasured friends, many of whom have already crossed that mystic stream that separates the living from the deceased. Some of the source material is of precious worth because it is now no longer available or no longer accessible. Some materials are no longer in existence except in the possession of the author. The gratitude of the author to all those extant and departed, who have contributed toward the completed project, cannot be adequately measured in terms truly understandable except by one who has exerted so many years effort in this field of endeavor. Any errors found within this book are responsibly mine. The author has been careful through numerous readings to catch any possible typos or errors, and will appreciate notification of any mistakes found by the reader that need correcting. He has attempted by use of personal stories, incidents, and the inclusion of some old letters in the appendix to keep this volume from being a totally genealogic series of born, married, and died facts, with the intention of providing the reader with an enjoyable and pleasant experience in the reading thereof.
