The Dark Side of Dawn is set around the SOE and the French resistance during the 1939/45 war. The story covers the life and works of Annette Carter, who is fictitious: as are the people with whom she serves and the area where she serves them. These fictional characters however, although typical of their real life counterparts, are slotted into the real historically accurate SOE command: and the training, modus operandum, and HQ commanders are those who actually served. Dates, events and other people are all historically genuine and correct. The story carries you through dangers, horrors and risks of the hazardous existence of life in Nazi occupied France. It also tells of the passionate love Annette finds with a young French farmer, also working for the liberation of his homeland. Their love however is forced to wait for a long, convoluted and sometimes painful journey before the Dawn of France's freedom also sets them free.
