This new release is unlike any sports book you have ever read. A lifelong Chicago Cub fan pens "rap" verses to capture the fun and excitement of each of the incredible final 49 Major League-best Cub wins of 2015, which includes the post season. The encouragement to publish the book came from the author's daughter Jill who became privy to emails written to the author's grandsons for the purpose of sharing his Cubs enthusiasm and having something exciting in common with them since their prior interest in the Cubs had waned and moved to the cross-town Chicago White Sox. The emails, sent after each Cub win, contained two or three-line game highlights. All were affectionately signed, Love, Papa Bud Before long, these were turning into four-line "raps," evolving into six, seven or more full verses. Responses began to come from the grandsons. It was working. That is how "The Cubs Book of Rap" was born. This grandfather was penning rap - Cubs rap. Some sample verses from "The Cubs Book of Rap": Sept 18: Oh Starlin Castro where have you been? In the lineup today you drive six runs in With those two home runs you gave quite a ride Oh, Starlin at last - you're hitting your stride Now assured that you won't be traded, you've come to life and you're being paraded The Cards were the victims - defeated eight to three They're the best team in baseball How could this be? Sept 19: Cubs were cruising in the ninth, with a five to one lead when the Cardinals scored three and in my pants I nearly peed Then a leaping, backhand stop and a neat shuffle throw Addison Russell and the Cubs had defeated their foe Oct. 7: The celebration that came was joyous and fun But the Cubs are aware There's work to be done For it's on to St. Louis the Cubs do go for another battle with a formidable foe For the Pittsburgh Pirates now that's all she wrote Could they have inherited the Cubs Billy Goat? Oct. 13 Cubs came from behind to beat St. Louis when those Red Birds thought they'd stick it to us Kyle Schwarber in the seventh put the icing on the cake - hit one over the scoreboard I heard said - "into the lake" I know this for sure That curse so long carried - The curse of the billy goat is now dead and buried THE AUTHOR: Frank "Bud" Stedronsky was co-founder and CEO of Motivation Media, Inc., an audio-visual communications firm that grew in the 90's to become the largest company of it's kind in Chicagoland and one of the biggest in the country. The author began his career as an award-winning writer/producer/director of corporate media programs after graduating from the University of Iowa with a dual major in Television Journalism and Motion Picture and Television Production. The author is past president of the Chicago Audio Visual Producer's Association and the national Audio Visual Management Association. Now retired, Frank continues to watch Cub games while spending his spare time on the golf course, where instead of earning media production awards, he pursues golf trophies.
