The Collector of Life This is a black comedy about despair and how to finally overcome it, a tale with a moral, about how we choose to spend our short lives and then what could happen afterwards. It develops in five novellas that are compiled into one book; they tell a fictional tale woven around heaven, hell, and humanities attempts to die by its own hand. But don't think this book is deep and depressing, it has a lot of ironic humour and characters you will get to know and like. It is not only a great page turning story, but carries a social message. NEVER GIVE UP When Ralf Jonathan Carey, known as Weird John by his neighbours, for spending his life collecting junk, is burned to death in his cluttered home, the locals thought it was the end. But having been rejected for eternal torment at least for the time being, he is sent back to fulfill a vacant post as the Collector of Life. Along with a sacrificed monk from another era, who surprisingly still has a sense of humour; they set about reaping the souls of those who want to die. His victims all had different reasons for wanting to end their life; some misguided others with little choice. Ralf could choose to be a phantom on the edge of a person's perception, a fear nagging away at them till they reacted, or in human form to gain their trust and somehow contrive to use their own free will to commit the ultimate act.
